SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State senior pitcher Jessica Mullins was selected 8^th overall on Tuesday night to join Athletes Unlimited Pro Softball. Mullins was one of just 15 top college players invited in the College Draft to join Athletes Unlimited for its 5th season this summer, with play this summer in Parkway Bank Sports Complex in Rosemont, Ill.

Although not the first Bobcat to go pro, Mullins is the first Bobcat to be drafted out of Texas State to Athletes Unlimited pro softball league. Mullins was also the only played selected out of a Sun Belt Conference school in this years draft.

The other 15 players selected in the college draft were: Valerie Cagle (Clemson), Maya Brady (UCLA), Tiare Jennings (Oklahoma), Jayda Coleman (Oklahoma), Peyton Gottshal (Tennessee), Skylar Wallace (Florida), Karli Spaid (Miami-OH), Kinzie Hansen (Oklahoma), Lexi Kilfoyl (Oklahoma State), Erin Coffel (Kentucky), Kelly Maxwell (Oklahoma), Sharlize Palacios (UCLA), and Ashley Miller (Northwestern).The draftees were selected by the Athletes Unlimited Player Executive Committee.

Mullins has made her mark in her final season as a Bobcat with her fourth straight Sun Belt All-Conference Selection and second Sun Belt Pitcher of the Year recognition. She has tallied a nations-best 30 wins this season while boasting a 1.31 through her 44 appearances. The senior sits in the top 10 of nearly every career category in program history, including innings pitched (835.2), wins (99), ERA (1.68), shutouts (22), strikeouts (812) and complete games (64).
 
Throughout this season Mullins has counted statement wins over #14 Texas A&M, Baylor, Penn State, Texas Tech, Arizona State, and two wins over Louisiana. Mullins also tossed her second career solo no-hitter and first career perfect game this season in a 7-0 win against UTEP.
 
Mullins and the rest of the Bobcats will continue the 2024 postseason with a trip to the program's 12^th NCAA regional appearance in College Station. The team's first game will be against Penn State on May 17 at 3 pm.
