Graduate Transfer Destiny Terrell to Join Bobcat Women's Basketball

SAN MARCOS, Texas – Graduate transfer Destiny Terrell will be joining Texas State women's basketball for the 2024-25 season, head coach Zenarae Antoine announced Saturday.
 
Terrell remains in the Lone Star State after four seasons at Incarnate Word where she was a consistent starter for the Cardinal. She started 28 of the team's 30 games in 2023-24 season while averaging 8.6 points and 7.2 rebound a night. She's scored nearly 800 points in her career while bringing down 572 rebounds Terrell won the 2021-22 Southland Conference Tournament and was part of the First Four in the 2022 NCAA Tournament. 
 
"Destiny is a tireless working woman in the classroom and on the court," Antoine said. "Her focus and discipline have helped her gain her opportunity to obtain her undergraduate degree and make an appearance in the NCAA tournament."
 
Prior to her time at Incarnate Word, Terrell was a high school stand out at Mansfield Summit High School, earning accolades each of her high school season. She averaged 11 points and 4.5 rebounds a game during her senior season while being named Second Team All-District. She was also named Newcomer of the Year in her freshman season, Offensive MVp her sophomore season and First Team All-District as a junior.
 
In addition to her on court success, Terrell was named to the Academic All-District team in high school and again to the Southland All-Academic team at Incarnate Word.. She will graduate from Incarnate Word in 2024 with her Bachelor's degree and will be pursuing a Master's degree in legal studies at Texas State.
 
"Destiny comes from a family of high achieving student-athletes and her addition to our Bobcat program is exciting for all," Antoine said. "Destiny's willingness to outwork her opponents and do whatever is asked will allow her to immediately impact our program in a positive light."
 
Both Terrell's parents are graduates and former student-athletes doe UT-El Paso, her mother playing basketball and father playing football. Her mother, Kiana, finished her career as the then UTEP record holder for double-doubles (20), second-leading scorer (1,134) and rebounder (676) in program history. Her father, David, was an all-WAC player for the UTEP football team from 1994-96. She has an older sister, Deja, who played basketball at North Texas & New Mexico State. Her brother, DJ, is currently a freshman on the UTEP men's basketball team. 
 
Terrell is the second transfer to join the Bobcats ahead of the 2024-25 season, totaling a group of six incoming players for next season. She is joined by Bucknell transfer Blake Matthews and four freshmen, Saniya Burks, Heather Baymon, Takeira Ramey and Melinda Winston.
