MONROE, Louisiana – The Bobcats are set to head out on the road for three games with ULM with altered game times from the original slated schedule. The Bobcats will play three games, including a doubleheader on April 19. The first game on April 19 will be at 2 pm, the second on at 5 pm, the series finale will be April 20 at 6 pm.
LAST TIME OUT:
Last time these Bobcats faced the Warhawks, Texas State won 3-1 in April 2023 at Bobcat Softball Stadium.
The Bobcats have a 51-37 record all time against ULM, including a 19-20 record in Monroe. The last time the Bobcats went to Monroe, they won 4-1 on April 10, 2022.
ABOUT THE BOBCATS:
Texas State goes into the meeting with ULM with a 34-12 record coming off a 10-0 win in six innings over UTSA. Texas State is ranked #25 in the nation with a 19 RPI ranking, the second highest in the Sun Belt Conference. Texas State is second in the Sun Belt rankings, following only behind Louisiana.
Leading the offense for the Bobcats going into the week is
Hannah Earls who's batting .376. She has 59 hits, 30 runs and six RBI in 157 at-bats.
Sara Vanderford is also helping the Bobcat offense with a .348 batting averaging as she's good for 47 hits, 34 runs and 35 RBI in 135 at-bats. Rounding out the top of the order are
Piper Randolph who's batting .321 and
Anna Jones batting .312.
Jessica Mullins has been the Bobcats ace pitcher this season with her 1.03 ERA. She has pitched 184.0 innings so far this season with 171 strikeouts, 27 earned runs, 35 walked batters and just 24 extra-base hits allowed. She has tossed 15 complete games including one perfect game. She also has three saves on the season.
ABOUT THE WARHAWKS:
ULM comes into the game with a 27-17 record and a 9-6 conference record. They are coming off a win over Grambling. In conference play they last faced the Troy Trojans, who they lost the series to but won one of the three games against.
The Warhawks have three players batting over .300 this season. Lourdes Bacon leads the way with a .379 batting average, she has 55 hits. 36 runs and 10 RBI on the season. Meagan Brown and Carys Platt round out the top of the order with .371 and .365 averages, respectively. Brown also leads the team with 35 RBI.
Pitching for ULM is likely to be Maddie Nichols. She has 26 appearances and 16 starts for the Warhawks this season. She has a 2.65 ERA with five complete games. She's pitched 105.2 innings, allowing 73 hits and 46 runs. She has 99 strikeouts so far this season and batters average .199 against her.
