SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Bobcats will host the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns tomorrow, April 12, through Sunday, April 14 in a three-game conference play series. Both teams are ranked top 25 in the nation and are battling for the highest RPI in the Sun Belt Conference.
This weekend marks the Bobcats second and third of four 'Senior Nights' during the weekend. Prior to Saturday's games we will be honoring graduating seniors
Piper Randolph and
Hannah Earls. Before Sunday's game, the Bobcats will honor
JJ Smith and
Jessica Mullins.
The series is also Texas State's Show 'Em State Weekend where fans should wear maroon to represent the Texas State pride. The Friday night game will begin at 6 pm, Saturday at 2 pm and Sunday at 12 pm. All three games will be streamed on ESPN+.
LAST TIME OUT:
Last time these Bobcats faced the Ragin' Cajuns they lost 4-1 in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament in Lafayette, Louisiana. The Bobcats also played a regular season series in Lafayette during the 2023 season and lost all three games.
The Bobcats have a 8-46 record all time against Louisiana, including an 3-10 home record. The last time the Bobcats hosted the Ragin' Cajuns was April 3, 2023 and the Bobcats won 5-4.

Texas State goes into the weekend with a 32-10 record coming off a 6-4 loss to #1 Texas in the midweek. Texas State is ranked #22 in the nation by the ESPN polls, and #25 in the NFCA poll. The team's RPI sits at 17 heading into the game, the second highest in the Sun Belt Conference. Texas State is second in the Sun Belt rankings, following only behind Louisiana.
Leading the offense for the Bobcats going into the week is
Hannah Earls who's batting .384. She has 56 hits, 30 runs and six RBI in 146 at-bats.
Sara Vanderford is also helping the Bobcat offense with a .350 batting averaging as she's good for 43 hits, 33 runs and 34 RBI in 123 at-bats. Rounding out the top of the order are
Piper Randolph who's batting .343 and
Anna Jones batting .321.
Jessica Mullins has been the Bobcats ace pitcher this season with her 0.93 ERA. She has pitched 166.0 innings so far this season with 155 strikeouts, 22 earned runs, 32 walked batters and just 20 extra-base hits allowed. She has tossed 14 complete games including one perfect game. She also has three saves on the season.
ABOUT THE RAGIN' CAJUNS:
Troy comes into the game with a 27-13 record off a loss to series sweep over James Madison on the weekend and a nine-game winning streak. The Ragin' Cajuns have a 10-6 record on the road this season.
The Ragin' Cajuns have three players hitting over the .350 mark this season including Mihyia Davis (.420), Brooke Ellestad (.364), and Laney Credeur (.354). Davis leads the team in hits with 58 and has the second most runs of any player on the team with 32. Ellestad leads the team with 32 RBI.
Pitching for Louisiana is likely to be Sam Landry. She has 27 appearances and 20 starts for the Ragin' Cajuns this season. She has a 2.33 ERA with seven complete games. She's pitched 120.0 innings, allowing 96 hits and 48 runs. She has 107 strikeouts so far this season and batters average .222 against her.

The Bobcats will head back on the road for a midweek meeting down I-35 at Texas. This will be the second meeting between the Bobcats and the Roadrunners this season, after the Roadrunners came to San Marcos earlier this season and the Bobcats won 2-1.
