Bobcats Drop Suspended Game to Longhorns

SAN MARCOS, Texas – Tuesday's suspended game was wrapped up on Wednesday in Austin at UFCU Disch-Falk Field with Texas State falling 9-1 to Texas. The contest was halted at the start of the ninth due to inclement weather.

The Bobcats dropped to 16-17 on the year while the Longhorns are now 20-13.

Credited with the loss was Tony Robie (3-3) after he allowed four runs on five hits in the first 2.1 innings. Chase Lummus (1-0) earned the win after pitching five scoreless innings while giving up just one hit and striking out three.

Peyton Zabel tossed 2.2 innings of relief with five strikeouts while giving up an unearned run on two hits. Both Cameron O'Banan and Taylor Seay recorded two punch outs apiece in their innings of work. Jack Stroud recorded a strikeout in his return to the mound as he threw a scoreless ninth on Wednesday.

Finishing with a hit apiece was Ian Collier, Ethan Farris, Aaron Lugo, Chase Mora, Daylan Pena, Kameron Weil. Farris drove in the team's lone run while Pena came around to score.

TXST threatened in the first as Weil led off the frame with a single and Lugo walked. A free pass to Alec Patino would load the bases but Lummus induced a pop-up to end the frame and keep the game scoreless.

A three-run homer in the second from Porter Brown put the Longhorns on the scoreboard. They would go on to score a run in both the third and fifth to take a 5-1 advantage.

With two on and two out in the sixth, Farris poked a 3-2 pitch to right center for an RBI single to put Texas State on the scoreboard.

UT quickly went back up by five with a run in the top of the seventh. The visitors got another three-run home run in the eighth, this time from Jared Thomas, to go up 9-1.

Right after Colby Diaz had finished his warm-up pitches to start the top of the ninth, lightning was detected in the area and the game was suspended until Wednesday.
