Softball to Host Baylor on Wednesday Night

SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State softball returns home for a midweek meeting with the Baylor Bears. The game will start at 6 pm and will be streamed on ESPN+.

LAST TIME OUT:
Last time these Bobcats faced the Bears they lost 3-0 in a six-inning game that was shortened due to bad weather. The last time the Bears were in San Marcos, Texas State lost in extra innings by a 3-2 score line. Texas State has a 19-43 record all-time against Baylor.
 
ABOUT THE BOBCATS:
Texas State goes into the weekend with a 29-8 record coming off a three-win week which included two wins over South Alabama and a win over Sam Houston. The Bobcats have 15 wins in their last 18 games after finishing March with a 15-3 record.
 
Leading the offense for the Bobcats going into the week is Hannah Earls who's batting .357. She has 45 hits, 24 runs and five RBI in 126 at-bats. Sara Vanderford is also helping the Bobcat offense with a .349 batting averaging as she's good for 38 hits, 27 runs and 32 RBI in 109 at-bats. During the last week Vanderford had a game with two home runs and seven RBI during the Bobcats series at South Alabama. She is now the Bobcats all-time career RBI lead. Ciara Trahan rounds out the batting order, hitting .339 and Anna Jones rounds out the top of the lineup with a .320. 
 
Jessica Mullins has been the Bobcats ace pitcher this season with her 0.89 ERA. She has pitched 141.1 innings so far this season with 133 strikeouts, 18 earned runs, 20 walked batters and just 16 extra-base hits allowed. She has tossed 13 complete games including one perfect game.  


ABOUT THE BEARS:
Baylor comes into the game with a 19-12 record off a win over Iowa State on Saturday. They won the series against Iowa State with two wins and a loss. The Bears have just four road wins this season. They're led by Glenn Moore who is in his 24th season with the program and holds a 897-455 record all time.
 
The Bears have five players hitting over the .300 mark this season including Shaylon Govan (.455), Emily Hott (.354), Taylor Strain (.329), Abi Flores (.304) and Leah Cran (.302) Govan leads with 35 runs scored and 16 RBI as well.
 
Pitching for the Bears is likely to be RyLee Crandall. She has 19 appearances and 15 starts for the Bears this season. She has a 2.24 ERA with seven complete games. She's pitched 84.1 innings, allowing 68 hits and 31 runs. She has 74 strikeouts so far this season and batters average .219 against her.
 
UP NEXT:
The Bobcats will stay home for a conference play series against Troy. The first game of the three game series is Friday, April 5 at 6 pm. This night will be the first of four 'Senior Night' recognitions for the nine seniors of Bobcat softball. This night we will be honoring Anna JonesKarsen Pierce and Claire Ginder.
