SAN MARCOS, Texas – With his best finish of the season and helping the Bobcats earn a top-three finish at the All-American Intercollegiate in Humble,
Jack Burke was named the Sun Belt Conference Men's Golfer of the Week on Thursday, the conference office announced.
Â
Burke, a junior from Orange, Texas, shot 4-under 212 at the All-American Intercollegiate to finish in a tie for third, which was his best personal finish of the season as well as the highest finish by a Bobcat in a tournament this year. He was the only player in the 100-person field to shoot under par in all three rounds as he carded a 71, 71 and 70 in the respective rounds.
Â
With the help of Burke, Texas State finished third and fell only three shots back of the tournament winner, Texas Tech. It was the second time this season the Bobcats placed in the top-four as a team.
Â
Burke has led the Bobcats in three of the seven tournaments so far this season.
Â
Burke is the first Bobcat to earn the Sun Belt Men's Golfer of the Week honor since Fabian Sunden in Sept. 2021.
Â
Texas State is set to compete in the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate in Mobile, Ala. The three-day tournament starts with the first round on Sunday.
