SAN MARCOS, Texas — Texas State women's basketball heads on the road for a game with conference foe Coastal Carolina and the second leg of the MAC-SBC Challenge versus Ohio.

SERIES HISTORY
- In its series history with Coastal Carolina, the Bobcats are split 5-5. The Bobcats won the last meeting 64-59 in 2022, before that Coastal was on a three-game win streak.
- This will be the first meeting between Texas State and Ohio.
MEET THE ROSTER
- Ja'Niah Henson came to Texas State after four years at Morgan State. She's averaging 14.7 points per game, the most of any Bobcat. In the Bobcats game against Texas A&M – Corpus Christi, she scored her 1000th career point as well. She is among the best free-throw shooters in the nation, shooting 91.1% from the line.
- Gara Beth Self transferred to Texas State after playing four years at ULM. She and Henson are co-captain for the Bobcats.
- The Bobcats also brought in Western Kentucky transfer Jaylin Foster. Both Foster and Self have been consistent members of the starting five for the Bobcats in each of the games so far this season.
- Tiffany Tullis and Crystal Smith join the Bobcats after two years at Blinn Junior College where the pair reached the NJCAA Division I Women's Basketball Championship tournament.
- The Bobcats had four players returning to the team this season including seniors Sierra Dickson, Nicole Leff and Morgan Hill. Dickson and Leff are the only seniors on the roster who have played their full four years at Texas State. Additionally, sophomore Kennedy Claybrooks is amongst the returners. Morgan Hill is in her second season with the Bobcats after transferring from ULM.
- The Bobcats also have two freshman, Julia Coleman and Emillia Steele.
ABOUT THE CHANTICLEERS
- The Chanticleers are 8-16 this season, 2-9 in conference play and are 13th in the Sun Belt Conference so far.
- Leading the way for the Chanticleers is head coach Kevin Pederson who is in his 2nd season with the program. He has a 22-32 record all-time with the program.
- Deaja Richardson leads the scoring for the Chanticleers averaging 14.7 points per night. Makaila Cange and Arin Freeman also average 13.0 points a night.
- Cange leads the boards for the Chants as well with 8.2 a night. Alancia Ramsey is also good for 7.6.
ABOUT THE OHIO BOBCATS
- The Bobcats are 7-13 season, 4-6 in conference play and are 7th in the MAC.
- Leading the way for the Bobcats is head coach Bob Bolden who is in his 11th season with the program. He has a 192-136 record all-time with the program.
- Jaya McClure leads the scoring for the Bobcats with 12.6 points a night.
- Leading the boards for Ohio is Madi Mace who averages 5.6 rebounds a night.
RANKINGS & RECORDS
- Ja'Niah Henson is second in the Sun Belt Conference and 9th in the nation for her free throw shooting. The graduate student is 72-79 from the line this season for a .911 shooting percentage.
- Henson is also 12th in the Sun Belt for her 14.7 point per game average.
- Texas State is among the best defenses in the Bobcats, the second best in the conference while allowing opponents just 61.1 points a night.
WHATS ON THE HORIZON?
- The Bobcats will continue its road trip at Troy and Southern Miss on Feb. 15 and 17 next week. After that, the Bobcats will finish the season with four straight home games.
- The team's next home game is Feb. 21 versus Marshall at 7 p.m. inside Strahan Arena.
