SERIES HISTORY
- There have been three meeting between Texas State and Southern Miss in program history. The Bobcats have won two of them, both the meetings in the 2022-23 season, including their meeting in the second round of last season's Sun Belt Tournament. When the Bobcats went to Hattiesburg this season, they lost 68-58.
- Texas State has won 28 of the 62 meetings between these two schools. The last time they met was earlier this season in Monroe where the Bobcats lost 73-63.
MEET THE ROSTER
- Ja'Niah Henson came to Texas State after four years at Morgan State. She's averaging 14.8 points per game, the most of any Bobcat. In the Bobcats game against Texas A&M – Corpus Christi, she scored her 1000th career point as well. She is among the best free-throw shooters in the nation, shooting 93.5% from the line.
- Gara Beth Self transferred to Texas State after playing four years at ULM. She and Henson are co-captain for the Bobcats.
- The Bobcats also brought in Western Kentucky transfer Jaylin Foster. Both Foster and Self have been consistent members of the starting five for the Bobcats in each of the games so far this season.
- Tiffany Tullis and Crystal Smith join the Bobcats after two years at Blinn Junior College where the pair reached the NJCAA Division I Women's Basketball Championship tournament.
- The Bobcats had four players returning to the team this season including seniors Sierra Dickson, Nicole Leff and Morgan Hill. Dickson and Leff are the only seniors on the roster who have played their full four years at Texas State. Additionally, sophomore Kennedy Claybrooks is amongst the returners. Morgan Hill is in her second season with the Bobcats after transferring from ULM.
- The Bobcats also have two freshman, Julia Coleman and Emillia Steele.
ABOUT THE GOLDEN EAGLES
- The Golden Eagles are 16-11 this season, 9-7 in conference play and are 6th in the Sun Belt Conference so far.
- Leading the way for the Golden Eagles is head coach Joye Lee-McNellis who is in her 20th with the program. She has a 325-284 record all-time with the program, and a 554-440 record in her career.
- Southern Miss has three players averaging double-digits a night. Leading the way is Domonique Davis who is averaging 19.7 points a night. Melyia Grayson is good for 12.8 while Jacorriah Bracey averages 10.0.
- Grayson also is good for 8.3 rebounds a game.
ABOUT THE WARHAWKS
- The Warhawks are 17-11 this season, 9-7 in conference play and are 5th in the Sun Belt.
- Leading the way for the Bobcats is head coach Missy Bilderback who is in her 1st season with the program. She has a 17-11 record all-time with the program.
- The Warhawks have four players averaging double digits a night. Daisha Bradford leads, averaging 19.4 points a night. Jakayla Johnson averages 15.0 a night while Sania Well is good for 10.4 and Katlyn Manuel averages 10.1.
- Bradgord also leads in rebounds with 7.6 a night.
RANKINGS & RECORDS
- Ja'Niah Henson is 1st in the Sun Belt Conference and 2nd in the nation for her free throw shooting. The graduate student is 100-107 from the line this season for a .935 shooting percentage.
- Texas State is the second best in the conference defensively while allowing opponents just 62.2 points a night.

- The Sun Belt Conference women's basketball tournament will run from March 5-11 in Pensacola, Florida. The full bracket will be revealed following the end of the regular season, with two first round games on March 5th.
