MOBILE, Ala. – Texas State men's golf was one of eight teams in the field to finish day one of the Hal Williams Collegiate under par thanks to the Bobcats having the second-best second round score and were nearly complete through the second of two rounds on Monday before play was suspended due to darkness.
 
The Bobcats were at hole 15-16 of round two before play was suspended until Tuesday. All teams will finish out the second and final round by playing upwards of 23 holes on day two. Monday was delayed at the start due to weather.
 
While Texas State is 15 shots off the lead – held by Illinois – for the tournament, it is only two shots away from fifth-place Louisiana Tech (-3). The Bobcats were 1-under at the end of Monday.
 
Texas State shot 6-over (290) in round one, which was 11th in the field of 14 teams, but the Bobcats roared back with a 7-under in the nearly-completed second round, which was the second-best score at the end of the day. Illinois was 10-under through holes 14-15 in the second round before play was stopped.
 
The Bobcats ended Monday tied for seventh with South Alabama.
 
Tom Roed Karlsen led the way for Texas State by finishing the day tied for 20th with a 1-under through hole 15 of the second round. He was 1-over 72 after round one, but bounced back with a 2-under with three holes to play in the second.
 
Pieter Rossouw Jr. – playing in his first collegiate tournament as a Bobcat after joining the team before the start of the semester – stood in a tie for 28th with an even par through hole 15 of the second round.
 
Sakke Siltala (3-under in the second round) and Marcelo Garza (1-under in the second) rounded out the scorers in the second round for Texas State.
 
Jack Burke is tied for 35th for the tournament with a 1-over through hole 15 of the second round.
