Morgan Claims Sun Belt Player of the Week Honor

SAN MARCOS, Texas – The final Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week award for the 2024 calendar year saw Texas State's Tyrel Morgan claim the honor, as announced by the league office on Tuesday. It is the weekly honor in his Bobcat career.

In the lone game last week, Morgan led the Bobcats with 22 points, 14 of which came in the second half, on 9-of-15 shooting and went 4-for-6 at the free throw line against UT Arlington. It was the graduate forward's four consecutive game with at least 19 points and his third 20-point contest this season.

The Atlanta native also grabbed a team-high eight rebounds, matched his career best with four steals and blocked a shot.

Morgan is the first Texas State player to be named the conference's player of the week since Jordan Mason claimed the award on Dec. 19, 2023.

Next up for the Morgan and the rest of the Bobcats is a road trip this weekend that begins on Thursday at Marshall with tip scheduled for 6 p.m. CT.
