Final Results
SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas State women's golf team wrapped up action at the Jim West Challenge with its best round of the tournament at 4-under to secure a seventh-place finish in the 12-team field. The two-day event was hosted by the Bobcats at Kissing Tree Golf Club in San Marcos.
The top three teams at the event were separated by only three strokes with TCU winning the event at 22-under. Houston earned runner-up honors at -21 and Oklahoma followed at -20. Overall, the field featured five teams ranked in the top 50 of the NCAA Division I list.
"It was a solid finish for us in a strong field," said head coach
Par Nilsson. "Allie [Justiz] had a great tournament and I was very impressed with all the birdies she made. This was a great learning experience for our young team."
Freshman
Allie Justiz (69-72-72--213) led the Bobcats on the individual leaderboard, securing her best tournament score and finish of the 2024-25 season. The Edmond, Oklahoma, native carded all three rounds at or below par for the tournament to tie for 16th place at 3-under 214. Justiz finished -1 on par 3s, tied for the third best performance at the event, and collected 15 birdies, also the third most for an individual.
Yvonne Chamness (77-69-69--215) climbed another eight spots in the final round by way of her second consecutive round of 69 in the tournament to close out action tied for 22nd at 1-under. The junior leads TXST with five rounds in the 60s this season.
A third straight round of even par for
Fia Lindblom (72-72-72--216) secured her a tied for 27th finish, her best of the year, after previously leading the Bobcats with a 35th place finish at the Schooner Fall Classic. Lindblom was also the recipient of the Aaron West Memorial Endowed Scholarship, presented by the Jim West family.
"Big thank you to Jim, Carol and Austin West for making this event possible," Nilsson said on the West family contributions to Texas State women's golf. "Playing on TV is such an opportunity to keep getting better and learn new things."
Mattingly Palmer (70-76-73--219) opened the tournament with a season low 2-under 70 en route to a tied for 37th finish at +3, while
Ella Salama (75-77-71--223) closed with her low round of the event at 1-under to finish +7 and in 44th.
Carla Bourdeaux and
Hallie Adare represented TXST as individuals, finishing 58th and 67th, respectively.
The 54-hole 859 was the lowest for the Bobcats (286-289-284--859) this season, while the third-round 284 was second only to the 283-opening round of the Ron Moore Intercollegiate.
The tournament concluded the fall portion of the schedule for Texas State. Action resumes with a second Texas State hosted event, the Texas State Invitational hosted at the Vaaler Creek Golf Club in Blanco, Texas, February 3-4.
