NEW ORLEANS – Texas State women's golfer Yvonne Chamness was selected as the Sun Belt Conference's Golfer of the Week, league officials announced Thursday.

Chamness led the Bobcats at the Ron Moore Intercollegiate with runner-up honors, matching her career best finish in tournament action. The junior posted three rounds in the 60s in Highlands Ranch, including tying a career-low 68 in the opening round to card a 10-under over 54 holes, also good for her personal best score to par.

Chamness has competed in all three events to open the season for TXST, contributing to the team score in all eight rounds (Schooner Classic shortened to two rounds due to weather). The Austin, Texas, native has four rounds at or below par, including three rounds in the 60s.

The Bobcats host the Jim West Challenge October 20-21 at Kissing Tree Golf Club in San Marcos.
