BOONE, N.C. — Texas State women's basketball will face its first road competition of conference play this weekend with games at App State and Georgia State.

SERIES HISTORY
- The Bobcats have won seven of the 15 meetings with App State, including the last two meetings in the 2022-23 season. These two teams last faced off in the 2023 Sun Belt Conference Tournament where the Bobcats won 56-47 to knock the Mountaineers out of the tournament. Texas State also won the regular season meeting 66-59 at home.
- Against Georgia State the Bobcats have the advantage in the history of the series. Texas State has an 11-3 record all-time against the Panthers including a current three-game win streak dating back to 2019. When these sides met in the 2022-23 season the Bobcats won 64-48.
MEET THE ROSTER
- Timia Jefferson has become a big part of the Bobcats offense after sitting out a season due to NCAA transfer rules that found her ineligible for her first year as a Bobcat. She's averaging 11.9 points and 5.4 rebounds a night. She scored her 1000th career point in the Bobcats win against FIU in the FIU Christmas Classic.
- Ja'Niah Henson comes to Texas State after four years at Morgan State. She's averaging 13.3 points per game, the most of any Bobcat. In the Bobcats game against Texas A&M – Corpus Christi, she scored her 1000th career point as well.
- Gara Beth Self transferred to Texas State after playing four years for conference-foe ULM. The Bobcats also brought in Western Kentucky transfer Jaylin Foster. Both have been part of the starting five for the Bobcats in each of the games so far this season.
- Tiffany Tullis and Crystal Smith join the Bobcats after two years at Blinn Junior College where the pair reached the NJCAA Division I Women's Basketball Championship tournament. Tullis has started in all of the Bobcats games so far this season.
- The Bobcats had four players returning to the team this season including seniors Sierra Dickson, Nicole Leff and Morgan Hill. Additionally, sophomore Kennedy Claybrooks. Leff and Dickson are the only four-year seniors in the program this year. The Bobcats also have two freshman, Julia Coleman and Emillia Steele.
ABOUT THE MOUNTAINEERS
- The Mountaineers are 7-5 this season and are 6th in the Sun Belt Conference so far.
- Leading the way for the Mountaineers is head coach Angel Elderkin who is in her 10th season with the program. She has a 124-160 record all-time with the program.
- Faith Alston leads the scoring for the Mountaineers as she averages 17.8 points a night.
- Leading the boards for App State is Rylan Moffitt who is averaging 8.2 rebounds a night. She's also good for 7.7 points a night.
ABOUT THE PANTHERS
- The Panthers are 7-4 this season and are 5th in the Sun Belt Conference so far.
- Leading the way for the Panthers is head coach Gene Hill who is in her 6th season with the program. She has a 67-87 record all-time with the program.
- Mikyla Tolivert leads the scoring for the Panthers, averaging 14.8 points per game. Georgia State has three players averaging 10+ points per game, Crystal Henderson (12.2) and Mya Williams (10.7) round out the top scorers.
- Leading the boards for Georgia State is Alyssa Phillip and Deasia Merrill who are averaging 6.8 and 6.7 rebounds a night, respectively.
RANKINGS & RECORDS
- Ja'Niah Henson is first in the Sun Belt Conference and 6th in the nation for her free throw shooting. The graduate student is 49-53 from the line this season for a .925 shooting percentage.
- In addition to her high percentage, Henson is on a streak of 27 consecutive made free-throw attempts. Her streak is the longest in Texas State history since Brooke Holle in the 2018-19 season who had a streak of 28-straight made attempts.
- Tiffany Tullis is third in the conference for rebounds with 102 so far this season.
- The Bobcats are the best three-point shooting team in the Sun Belt Conference, shooting 36.5% from beyond the arc.
WHATS ON THE HORIZON?
- Following this trip to App State and Georgia State, the Bobcats will go on another road trip to face Arkansas State and ULM. The Bobcats next home game will be Jan. 18 versus Troy at 7 p.m..
- The only remaining non-conference game for the Bobcats will be on Feb. 10 against a to-be-determined MAC opponent for the second part of the MAC-SBC Challenge. This game will be on the road since the Sun Belt women's teams got to play at home for the first part of the MAC-SBC Challenge. The opponent will be determined based on NET Rankings in January.
