HOUSTON – The Texas State soccer team (3-3-0) ended its three-match losing streak Sunday night on the road with a 3-1 victory over Houston Christian (1-3-0) at Sorrels Field.

"It was an overall solid performance and it was nice to back into the win column. We created a lot of good chances like we've done in our last several games and it felt great to be rewarded for it," said head coach
Steve Holeman.

Finding the back of the net for the second time this season was
Olivia Wright. Both
Mya Ulloa and
Mady Soumare netted their first goals of the season with Soumare's being the first in the maroon and gold and turned out to be the match-winner. Credited with an assist on the evening was
Lily Erb,
Chloe Jones and Ulloa.

Leading TXST with three shots attempts was Ulloa. Taking two cracks at goal were
Madi Goss,
Alexis Neal and Soumare.

In goal,
Katelyn Chrisman made seven saves that was one shy of matching her career high.

A try from distance off the right foot of
Victoria Meza was pushed wide of frame for a Bobcat corner kick.

Wright put the Bobcats on the scoreboard early in the 18th minute off a pass from Ulloa. Soumare tallied her score just over 10 minutes later that saw Jones assist on the play.

The Huskies came out aggressive in the second half and turned that into a goal from Katie Marker nearly two and a half minutes into the period.

Ulloa put the match away for Texas State with a shot from distance into the upper right corner near the end of the 78th minute after receiving a pass from Erb.

Next up for the Bobcats is their final home non-conference match of the season on Thursday when Texas Southern comes to town.
