SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas State soccer team opened Sun Belt Conference play with a 3-0 victory over Louisiana on Sunday from the Bobcat Soccer Complex. The victory extended the Bobcats' winning and shutout streaks to four and three, matches, respectively.
Coming off the bench,

Mya Ulloa also took three shots on the afternoon.
In goal,
Caitlyn Draper made three saves to record her second straight shutout. She has not allowed a goal in her last 254:54 minutes on the pitch.
Texas State had multiple chances in the first half but were slightly off target or the Ragin' Cajuns Makenna Garcia came up with big stops. Soumare had three good looks with the first two being stopped and the third sliding just wide of the right post with 90 seconds left in the period.
Lucy Hart nearly headed in the ball as it was played back in off a long corner kick during the 37th minute. Her attempt clanked off the left post and the ensuing scramble on the rebound saw the Cajuns eventually clear it away.
Dominating possession to start the second half, the Bobcats broke through in the 49th minute.
Kennley Bradley sent a long ball forward that was misplayed by a Louisiana defender. Soumare was able to beat the Cajun to the ball and slot a shot just out of the reach of the goalie for her third tally of the season.
Junior got around a defender and kept the ball from crossing the endline. She sent a short centering pass to Soumare, who hit it one-time towards the back post. However, a Cajun defender got a foot on it to deflect the ball off the bottom of the crossbar. Junior got her foot on the round to put it into the back of the net for her third goal of the year and extend the lead to 2-0 in the 57th minute.
The final goal of the match came midway through the 78th minute.
Wimberley Wright sent a long ball down the right side for
Alexis Neal. The sophomore forward sent a low cross into the box that saw
Halle Garcia hit it on the first touch into the netting for her third goal of the season.
