Texas State Returns to Austin for NCAA Tournament Regional

SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State softball was selected to an NCAA Regional on Sunday night. The team was selected as the Sun Belt Conference's lone at-large bid and was selected to the Austin regional.

The Bobcats will be joined by Texas, Texas A&M and Seton Hall. This is the second time the Bobcats have seen the Aggies this season and will be the third face off with the Longhorns.

"This is a great regional for us," said head coach Ricci Woodard. "We get to go into somewhere we're familiar with, a place we've had success this season, play teams we know, and just focus on playing our best softball."

Texas State was selected as the third seed in the regional and will play Texas A&M in its first game. The game will be on Friday, May 19th at 6:30 p.m. (CT). The game will be streamed on ESPN+.

"I'm excited that we got the recognition we have worked so hard for," said pitcher Jessica Mullins. "Making a regional isn't easy and any team we face will not be easy, but if we play to our true potential like we have been, we will conquer anyone in our path. I'm so excited to get this far with this team. I love each and every one of them and there no other team I'd rather be in this spot with."

This is the fourth time in program history that the Bobcats have been selected to an Austin regional. The last time the Bobcats were in a regional was the 2021 Austin Regional where the Bobcats were the three seed as well. The Bobcats played in the Austin Regional in 2011 and 2003 as well.

Texas State has a 10-19 record in NCAA postseason play with its last appearance being a 2-0 loss to #10 Oregon in the 2021 Austin Regional.
