MARICOPA, Ariz. – Texas State women's golf falls to sixth place after the conclusion of the second round of the National Golf Invitational (NGI) Saturday.
Mattingly Palmer is the only Bobcat to remain in the top-10.
In the second round of the NGI, Texas State went 15-over 303 to put the Bobcats at 21-over par. Texas State had the fourth highest 18-hole second round total among the 10 teams. Penn State still holds the lead at nine-over par.
Mattingly Palmer fell two spots on the leaderboard to ninth, but maintained her position inside the top-10. Palmer finished the round three-over par, her third 18-hole total of 75 in the second round of tournaments this season.
Junia Gabasa jumped 12 spots among the 48 competitors, the largest jump among the Bobcats, to tie for 17
th. Gabasa had three birdies to finish the round one-over 73, and was the only Texas State player to improve in the second round.
Matilda Svahn fell out of the top-10 with nine bogeys and a six-over total and is tied for 20
th.
Marine Griffaut and
Yvonne Chamness are tied for 34
th at 10-over par, both finished the day with a double-bogey. Griffaut recorded her second round of 77 in the tournament. Chamness fell 12 spots on the leaderboard due to eight bogeys and a lone birdie.
