SAN MARCOS, Texas – In the latest States Up podcast, a familiar voice for Bobcat fans joins as Bill Culhane, the former "Voice of the Bobcats," discusses his career at Texas State and all the stops along the way filled with Texas State greats in terms of student-athletes, coaches and others.
Culhane was requested by fans on social media to be a guest for the 50th episode of the States Up podcast, and he delivered what fans have grown to know and love from him during his 20+ years as the "Voice of the Bobcats." After taking over the role in the mid 1990s, Culhane was there for great moments, such as the 1997 men's and women's basketball teams making the NCAA Tournament, the 2005 football team making a program-defining run in the FCS Playoffs, and others from Texas State volleyball, baseball and softball.
In the podcast, Culhane looks back at how he got started in sports broadcasting and offering important advice to those coming up in the business. He also discusses his time in the Air Force, how he landed at Texas State, great athletes and coaches he got to work with, and other fond memories he acquired. He also shared an important message to Bobcat Nation as the 2022-23 seasons come to a close and the 2023-24 season is around the corner.
