Svahn Leads Bobcats at Chevron Silverado Showdown

NAPA, Calif. – Matilda Svahn leads the Bobcats tied for 13th on the first day of the Chevron Silverado Showdown at the Silverado Resort and Spa.
 
Texas State rounds out the field of 17 teams after shooting 27-over 315 in the first round. The 18-hole total is the second-highest this season for the Bobcats.
 
This is the largest field Texas Stats has played in, all teams are ranked in the top-100 with eight in the top-25. No. 16 Northwestern leads after day one three-under par.
 
Matilda Svahn finished in the top-10 and ahead of 18 top-100 ranked players. Svahn recorded her fourth round of 74 this season and is two-over par after the first round. The sophomore is seven strokes behind co-leaders Zoe Campos from UCLA and Amanda Linner from Arizona State.
 
Junia Gabasa tied for 62nd and tied for the second most birdies today for Texas State. Yvonne Chamness recorded her second round of 80 this season and had nine bogeys. Marine Griffaut and Mattingly Palmer tied for 84th, Palmer recorded an eagle on hole 14.
