SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State football wrapped up its spring practice with a scrimmage in front of fans at Bobcat Stadium on Saturday as the new-look Bobcats, under first year head coach GJ Kinne, showcased an explosive offense and tenacious defense.

Ben Bell highlighted the defense as he was credited with 4.0 sacks and a quarterback hurry to go with his seven total tackles. Newcomer
Bryce Cage had four tackles, including a sack.

The offense's touchdowns included:
- Calvin Hill with a one-yard rush on the opening drive.
- Trent Lacy had a one-yard rushing touchdown after Ismail Mahdi broke loose for a 40-yard rush on the play prior.
- CJ Rogers connected with Hill for a two-yard touchdown pass to cap a drive that featured four-straight completions by Rogers to Ashtyn Hawkins and Julian Ortega-Jones. The play that started it all was a 35-yard connection between Rogers and Hawkins that took the ball from the offense's 44-yard line to the defense's 21-yard line.
- Ty Evans piloted a touchdown drive, throwing for 34 yards before Ismail Mahdi punched it in from one yard out.
- Damarius Good broke loose for a 35-yard touchdown on a drive that started from the defense's 40-yard line.
- After Malik Hornsby found Kole Wilson for a 37-yard pass to put the ball at the one-yard line, Donerio Davenport scored a short touchdown.
- Michael James also had a 29-yard field goal on the day's second drive for the lone field goal on the day.

Overall, of the six touchdowns scored, five were on the ground and one was in the air. The offense had 16 plays of 10+ yards.

Hornsby and Rogers both threw for over 100 yards in the air.

The Bobcats will begin summer workouts in June before opening up fall camp ahead of the season opener at Baylor on Sept. 2.
