DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – On the second day of the Sun Belt Women's Golf Championship Texas State fell to second place shooting 13-over par at the LPGA International course.
Junia Gabasa and
Matilda Svahn lead the Bobcats in the top-10.
The start of the second round was delayed due to weather which had an impact on the players through the opening holes. Texas State fell out of the top spot from the first round after shooting 13-over 301.
After two rounds the Bobcats are 11-over par with a five-stroke lead from third place Arkansas State. After a back-and-forth battle for first place in today's round, ULM ended the day one top and has a third-stroke lead on the Bobcats.
Junia Gabasa is in fourth after shooting two-over and is the only player in the tournament to be even on the course.
Matilda Svahn recorded her second round of 74 and climbed the leaderboard 10 spots tied for eighth.
Old Dominion's Leah Onosato is still in first at three-under par and three strokes ahead of Gabasa.
Freshman
Yvonne Chamness saw a two-stroke improvement to move up the leaderboard for a spot inside the top-25 at six-over 150. Svahn and Chamness had the highest number of birdies in the second round for Texas State, with two each.
Marine Griffaut tied her 18-hole season high when she finished the round 12-over 84. Griffaut entered today's round tied for first but after three back-to-back double bogeys and seven bogeys, the junior is now tied for 33
rd eight-over par.
Mattingly Palmer follows tied for 33
rd going seven-over 79 in the second round.
