GULF SHORES, Ala. – After two rounds Texas State leads the Craft Farms Intercollegiate with a nine-stroke lead at the Cotton Creek Golf Course on Sunday. Four Bobcats finished in the top-10 with
Jack Burke leading the way tied for fourth.
The tournament was scheduled for three days with 18 holes each, but with bad weather the decision was made to play 36 holes on Sunday and 18 Monday.
Texas State shot one-under 285 in the opening round of the tournament to tie their second-lowest first round 18-hole total, and fifth lowest this season. The Bobcats ended the first round in the top spot and maintained that position shooting 287 in the second round.
The team has a nine-stroke lead from second place finisher and host, South Alabama.
Four athletes finished in the top-10 and there was a total of four-under par rounds and three even rounds recorded through 36 holes.
Jack Burke leads the Bobcats for the third straight time after recording his 14
th under par round this season to tie for fourth. Burke followed that round with an even 72.
South Alabama's Jordan Plunkett sits in first at three-under and has a one-stroke lead from second place.
Tom Roed Karlsen follows next tied for sixth, finishing the day even and improving from a total of 73 in the first round to one-under 71 in the second.
Sakke Siltala recorded nine birdies on the day, the most for Texas State, to conclude today's play one over.
Marcelo Garza currently sits at his highest finish yet this season with the help of an eagle on hole 10 for an even second round. The 18-hole total of 71 is tied for his second lowest of the season for Garza.
Kasper Nyland rounds out the Bobcats just missing the top-20, he shot the lowest round of the day for Texas State with three-under 69. Nyland also recorded an eagle for the day, but a bogey plagued second round resulted in his second-highest round of the season.
