SAN MARCOS, Texas – On 2023 National Signing Day, Texas State football head coach GJ Kinne announced seven new Bobcats who signed their National Letter of Intent (NLI) as the signing class for the newly named head coach grew to 33 on Wednesday.
 
The Bobcats added four from the junior college ranks as well as three from high schools. This group of seven added to the 11 signed during the December early signing period and 17 transfers added throughout January.
 
Texas State's complete 2023 signing class includes 17 on the offensive side of the ball and 16 on the defensive.
 
The February 1 group of signees included five defensive players. Defensive linemen Kalil Alexander (Charlotte, N.C./Coffeyville CC) and Jo'Laison Landry (Houston, Texas/C.E. King HS) were joined by linebackers Dontavius Burrows (Columbus, Miss./Tyler JC) and Derick Mourning Jr. (Houston, Texas/Kilgore College). Safety Bobby Crosby (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./Cisco College) was also signed.
 
Alexander was top-10 in the country this past season in sacks and TFLs for the top-10 ranked Coffeyville Red Raven.
 
Landry, meanwhile, is a fast-rising defensive lineman out of Houston who originally committed to Utah.
 
Burrows, Mourning Jr. and Crosby all come from Texas junior colleges while Crosby was Cisco's leading tackler with 94 this past season. The safety also had 13 pass breakups.
 
On offense, two high school signees were added: quarterback signee PJ Hatter (Houston, Texas/Westfield HS) and offensive lineman Justin DeLeon (Kingsville, Texas/H.M. King HS). Hatter is a left-handed dual threat quarterback who accounted for 66 touchdowns (55 passing) and nearly 5,000 total yards for Westfield this past season. DeLeon, meanwhile, is the highest rated recruit, according to 247 Sports, to sign with Texas State out of high school.
 
Among the 33 signees for Texas State, 28 graduated from a Texas high school.
 
Texas State will start spring practice in March with the full schedule to be announced in the coming weeks.
