SAN MARCOS, TX — Texas State softball head coach Ricci Woodard and the Bobcat softball coaching staff have announced the additions of eight players to its 2024 Signing Class. 

The eight players joining the Bobcats are: Savannah Carter, Emily Fish, Mayson Garrett, Abby Garza, Erin Peterson, Melania Reeves, Bailey Slack and Taylor Wilson. All eight members of this signing class are Texas natives.

"I'm really excited for this class," said Head Coach Ricci Woodard. "We found a lot of players that have a possibility of playing infield and outfield for us, and that's what we were looking for. We were looking for really good, athletic people and that's what this class is. All eight of them fit that category and I'm excited to have them in our signing class."

Savannah Carter | 5'8" | R/R | P/1B | Spring, Texas
Carter is a 5' 8'' pitcher and first basemen out of Spring, Texas … the Klein Collins High School player was named District 15-6A Offensive Player of the Year in the 2022 season … She was named the District 15-6A Academic All-District Team Offensive Player of the Year in 2022 as well for her work in the classroom … In 2023 she was named District 15-6A MVP and Academic All-District … Named Scorebook Live Texas Player of the Year in 2023 and ranked #53 by Extra Innings … was named to TGCA All-State …  also was in National Honor Society … played travel ball for Strykers National Esparza 

Emily Fish | 5'9" | R/R | INF | Helotes, Texas
Fish is an infielder out of Helotes, Texas from O'Connor High School … plays travel ball for Athletics Mercado Bonola … was the 2022 6A State Champion … was named to the Academic All-District team in 2021-22 and 2022-23 … was named to the 2022-23 1^st Team All District team … was ranked #57 in the 2024 Extra Elite 100 by Extra Innings and was named #42 infielder in the class of 2024
 
Mayson Garrett | 5'10" | R/R | INF | Angleton, Texas
Garrett is an infielder out of Angleton, Texas and Angelton High School … in the 2022-23 season she had a .352 batting average which included 30 runs and 38 RBI … she also hit 10 home runs … through her three seasons at Angelton High School she has a .393 batting average after hitting .455 her sophomore year 
 
Abby Garza | 5'8" | R/R | INF | Spring, Texas
Garza is an infielder out of Spring, Texas who plays high school ball at Grand Oaks High School and travel ball for Blaze United … she was named a USA All-American … also named First Team All-District and Second Team All-County … also name Academic All-District for her success in the classroom
 
Erin Peterson | 5'6" | L/R | INF | Denton, Texas
Peterson is an infielder out of Denton, Texas from Guyer High School … she played travel ball for the Texas Glory … she was named #182 in Extra Innings 2024 Extra Elite Player Rankings … in her junior season she was named to the TGCA 6A All-State team … named 2023 TX UIL 6A State Tournament All-Tournament Team … named DFW FP All-Metroplex Jr Player of the Year … named to 2023 GM Sports Media DFW High School All-Area Team … was named Denton School Districts Varsity Scholar Athlete and to the District 5-6A Academic All-District team … was named SBLive Top Middle Infielders in Texas … was named to the 2023 10 Denton-Area players to watch list … was Extra Inning Softball's National Player of the Week Runner Up the week of Feb. 27

Reeves is an outfielder out of San Antonio, Texas from Johnson High School … she plays travel ball for the Texas Bombers … plays in the outfield and is a slapper when up to bat … known for her speed and athleticism… her older sister Natalia Reeves graduated from Texas State … is a National Honor Society member

Bailey Slack | 5'6" | L/R | OF | Liberty, Texas
Slack is an outfielder out of Liberty, Texas from Liberty High School … played travel ball at the Texas Dirt Divas … was named an All-State Tournament Outfielder and was 4A State Champion her freshman year … was named an All-State Tournament Outfielder and was 4A State Champion her sophomore year … won District Offensive Player her junior year … was named to the TGCA All-State team … named THSCA Super Elite Team, Blue Bell/TSWA All-State First Team Outfielder … was an All-State Tournament Outfielder her junior year … is a National Honor Society member

Taylor Wilson | 5'5" | L/R | INF/UTL | Boerne, Texas
Wilson is a utility player out of Boerne, Texas at Boerne High School … she plays travel ball for Bombers Gold National … was named to Extra Innings Class of 2024 top 100 at No. 86 … named to Extra Innings All Summer Team … was one of TCS 16U Future Stars game participant … was named First Team All-District and Academic All-District
