MONROE, La. – It was a rough afternoon on the road as Texas State fell to ULM 5-0 on Sunday at Brown Stadium.

"All credit goes to ULM. They were the better team today and are one of the best teams we've played all season," said head coach
Steve Holeman. "They are extremely good in possession and we tried to press them but weren't successful. They broke us down in every component of the game. We had the effort but it was not enough."

It is the largest margin of defeat in a Sun Belt Conference match since 2015 when the Bobcats also fell by five goals at App State on Oct. 4, 2015.

With the result, TXST is now 7-5-2 on the season and 2-2-2 in the Sun Belt Conference while the Warhawks improved to 8-2-4 overall and 3-1-2 in league action.

The Bobcats were held to just two shots with one in each half.
Victoria Meza placed the lone attempt on frame early in the 11th minute that was right was at the keeper. The only other shot was off the foot of
Lucy Hart in the 83rd minute. ULM would take 19 shots and place 11 of frame.

The Warhawks nearly got on the board early as Mara Grutkamp saw a shot attempt clank off the left post. It would be 20 minutes later when Eleonora Franco put the hosts in front with a shot into the right corner of the frame.

ULM was awarded a penalty kick with less than four minutes left in the opening half that saw a Warhawk player greatly embellish behind hit from behind on a free kick into the box that was not only five feet above her head but also behind her. Inge Konst converted on the spot kick to double the hosts' advantage.

The Warhawks added a third goal early in the 56th minute off the foot of Emelie Kobler on a cross in from Skylar Blaise. Two more goals would come off the foot of Blaise in the final seven minutes of the contest.

Next up for the Bobcats is a trip to Virginia to take on James Madison with kickoff set for 6 p.m. CT.
