SAN MARCOS, Texas – Following four rounds at the Riviera Golf Club in Cavite, Philippines, Junia Gabasa finished one-under 283 in the 2023 Philippine National Stroke Play Championship from January 3-6. 
 
"This has been a very memorable win for me," Gabasa said. "I was hitting a lot of greens and avoided big numbers, which was key to my good play this week. It was not a walk in the park, but I handled my mental game very well which is what I'm proud of the most. I'm very excited to bring this experience heading into our spring season as we will be playing in a lot of competitive fields." 
 
The junior managed to improve each round through heavy rain and wind during the tournament. Gabasa shot a 74 in the opening round and went even in the second and third round with a 71. 
 
In the final round Gabasa recorded the lowest round of the tournament with 67, with the help of five birdies in a row. The Cebu, Philippines native finished with a four-stroke lead against runner-up Lois Go.
