SAN MARCOS, Texas – All fans are encouraged to help blanket all of Bobcat Stadium by wearing their favorite maroon Texas State gear as part of the "Wear Maroon" promotion at the Texas State football home opener against FIU, presented by H-E-B, on Saturday at Bobcat Stadium.
 
In addition to fans and the team wearing maroon, there will also be a rally towel giveaway, free food, and more throughout the evening for the 6 p.m. game
 
Other promotions and events for Bobcat fans at the game include:

• Free pizza for Texas State students
  • While supplies last
• On-field recognition of the 2021-22 Sun Belt Conference Champion men's basketball team
  • The Bobcats will receive their championship rings and be recognized at halftime
• Cat Walk
  • Welcome the Bobcats to the stadium as they walk into the stadium through Tailgate Central on the east side of the stadium
• Freshman Runout
  • Texas State freshman students will run across Jim Wacker Field prior to the game to kick start their Texas State experience
• Return of the H-E-B Katzengarten
  • Free Black's BBQ sandwiches available, while supplies last
• Coca-Cola Fun Zone, featuring a petting zoo, face painters, bounce houses
  • Open when gates open until the end of the third quarter
• Postgame concert by Dysfunkshun Junkshun

 
Fans are also invited to tailgate prior to the game, with options available at the Spring Lake Field and UEC Field. The Texas State Alumni Association will be hosting its first tailgate of the year in the west parking lot near the baseball stadium, and fans can RSVP prior to gameday. The Texas State "T" Association will also be hosting a tailgate near Tailgate Central.
 
The game will feature the world-famous Strutters and their halftime performance as well as the Bobcat Marching Band.
 
The Cypress Cove, which will be located outside of Gate 2 on the west side of the stadium, will open starting with the Houston Baptist game on Sept. 24.
