Opening Drive...
  • Texas State enters its first season as a member of the Pac-12 Conference after spending the past 13 seasons as a member of the Sun Belt Conference. During that span, TXST was the top-performing athletics department six times, including the last 3 consecutive seasons.
  • Texas State is coming off its third consecutive bowl win with a 41-10 victory over Rice in the Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl, this came after back-to-back wins in the First Responder Bowl over North Texas (2024) and Rice (2023).
  • New Faces: Head Coach GJ Kinne welcomed 4 news faces to the Bobcat coaching staff this past offseason, including Defensive Coordinator Will Windham as well as Chris Gistorb (Defensive Line) and Marcus Patton (Secondary). On offense, Kiel McDonald takes over for TXST-great Barrick Nealy.
  • Texas State won 7 games in 2025, the third straight season with 7+. Last time it happened: 1982-1984 (14-0, 9-3, 7-4)
  • GJ Kinne has named the following captains for the 2026 season: Brad Jackson, Beau Sparks, Chris Dawn, Jr., Sully Burns, Ryan Nolan, Terrence Cooks II, Phillip Bradford & Jo'Laison Landry.
  • Flex: The Bobcats currently have 11 games on the schedule for 2026, with the final week serving as a non-conference, Pac-12 flex game. Opponents will be determined 6 days out from game day, with TXST scheduled for a road game.
  • Dameon Crowe earned TXST its first Pac-12 Player of the Week honors with his performance on special teams against UIW. Crowe registered 2 punt returns for 98 yards with a long of 77 for a TD.
  • First time for everything - 5 Bobcats scored their 1st career TDs against UIW in week 4: Dameon Crowe, La'Keyleon Graves, Zechariah Sample, Juntavious Harris & Jordan Martin. Gavin Parkhurst threw his 1st career TD pass.

First Meeting

LAST TIME OUT
SAN MARCOS, Texas (AP) --
Brad Jackson threw five first-half touchdown passes, Torrance Burgess Jr. had 140 yards rushing and a TD on nine carries, and Texas State beat Incarnate Word 63-10 on Saturday night.

Jackson was 17-of-20 passing for 244 yards with no interceptions before he was replaced midway through the third quarter by redshirt-freshman Gavin Parkhurst. After a play-action fake, Jackson hit Beau Sparks down the left sideline for a 63-yard touchdown to open the scoring about 1 1/2 minutes into the game. Zechariah Sample caught a short pass from Jackson, broke a would-be tackle near midfield and raced to the end zone for a 69-yard score that made it 42-7 with 2:44 remaining in the first half.

Emmett Brown was 24-of-44 passing for 242 yards with one touchdown and one interception for Incarnate Word (2-2), a member of the Football Championship Subdivision's Southland Conference. Brown connected with Roy Alexander for a 32-yard touchdown in the first quarter.

Nick Rigas kicked a 23-yard field goal as time expired in the first half that made it 42-10.

Parkhurst threw a 49-yard touchdown pass to La'Keyleon Graves early in the fourth quarter for Texas State (2-2).

Chris Dawn Jr., Jordan Martin and Davian Jackson each added a touchdown reception for the Bobcats. Juntavious Harris had a 45-yard rushing TD and Dameon Crowe returned a punt 77 yards for a touchdown that capped the scoring with 1:39 to play.

PAC-12's FINEST
Dameon Crowe was named the Pac-12 Conference Special Teams Player of the Week following his standout performance in the Bobcats' 63-10 victory over UIW.

Crowe made his biggest impact in the fourth quarter, taking a punt 77 yards for the touchdown to cap the Bobcats' scoring with 1:39 remaining. In addition to his punt-return touchdown, Crowe contributed three receptions for 30 yards, finishing the game with 128 all-purpose yards. He averaged 49.0 yards per punt return, recording two returns for 98 yards, including the 77-yard touchdown. His 98 punt return yards rank fifth all-time in a game for TXST.

The 77-yard return was Texas State's longest punt return of the season and gave the Bobcats their first special-teams touchdown of the 2026 campaign.

SAME BOBCATS, NEW CONFERENCE
Texas State University officially joined the Pac-12 Conference, a transformative milestone in the university's athletic and academic journey, on July 1, 2026. Of its seven new football conference mates, TXST has only faced Utah State. The lone match-up took place Nov. 3, 2012 with Utah State winning 38-7 in Logan.

LEADER OF THE PAC
It may be hard to believe, but GJ Kinne enters the first year in the Pac-12 as the longest tenured head coach at a conference institution.

GJ Kinne (TXST) | 4th
Spencer Danielson (Boise State) | 3rd
Sean Lewis (San Diego State) | 3rd

JaMarcus Shephard (Oregon State) | 1st
Kirby Moore (Washington State) | 1st
