Women’s Golf Welcomes Three for 2022-23 Season

SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State women's golf head coach Par Nilsson announced the additions of three student-athletes to the roster for the 2022-23 season.

The additions of freshmen Hallie Adare and Yvonne Chamness, and transfer Mattingly Palmer adds to the young, but experienced team that will be made up of four juniors, three sophomores, and two freshmen.

Hallie Adare
Wimberley HS | Wimberley, Texas
Adare qualified as an individual for the 2022 Class 4A girls state tournament where she placed in the top 5. The incoming freshman led the Lady Texan golf team to third-place finish at the 2022 Wimberley district tournament, and won her second consecutive individual district championship. Adare recorded two Junior Tour tournament wins at Vaaler Creek Golf Club and the Victoria Country Club, and tied for second on the Junior Tour at the Buckhorn Golf Course. She has competed in two Srixon Prestige Tour Girls tournaments.

Yvonne Chamness
Austin HS | Austin, Texas
Chamness was a four-year letterwinner and three-year captain for the Maroons at Austin High School. In the spring of 2021, she qualified as an individual for the UIL 6A Regionals, and was ranked 22nd in Texas on the Junior Golf Scoreboard and 185th in the country for the class of 2022. On the STPGA Prestige Tour, Chamness was ranked sixth and ninth on the Texas Legends Tour. She had a second-place finish at the James A. Ragan Memorial Tournament, hosted by the Legends Tour.

Mattingly Palmer
Baylor | Georgetown HS | Georgetown, Texas
Palmer is coming off a redshirt freshman season at Baylor. She competed in the Orlando Amateur and the Dixie tournaments in the winter, making the cut in both events in the season where the Bears advanced to the NCAA Women's Golf Championship. Palmer won twice on the 2020 Southern Texas Junior Tour to claim medalist honors. In 2019, Palmer picked up three tournament titles at the Junior Golf Hub New Braunfels Showcase, the Junior Tour at Balcones Country Club, and the TJGT DFW Fall Kickoff. The year was also highlighted by two top-five finishes. She advanced to state every year in high school and finished in the top-10 her senior year.

The 2022-23 season kicks off in the fall with the "Mo" Morial in Bryan, Texas. The Bobcats will be hosting two tournaments this season, the Jim West Challenge in October and the Texas State Invitational to open the spring season.
