SAN MARCOS, Texas – In the newest States Up podcast, Texas State football's
Jarron Morris shares what his journey has been like coming back from a season-ending injury a year ago, where he got his nickname "Baby J," and what he really means when he says he is a football player.
Morris, who has been with the Bobcats since 2018, entered the 2021 season coming off an All-Sun Belt performance in 2020. As a junior, he started 11 of the 12 games played, led the team in tackles, was third in the Sun Belt with four interceptions, and had 15 total passes defended which was second-best in the conference.
However, in the season opener against Baylor in 2021, he suffered a hip injury. He tried to play the next week at FIU, but the injury was too much and ended his season before it really even began.
In the podcast, Morris reflects back on that moment of getting injured against Baylor and shares more about his journey overcoming setbacks along the way in his rehab process. The fifth-year redshirt junior also looks back at those people in his life who made him who he is today as a football player, how he helps teammates whenever they need it, how he ended up at Texas State, and more.
