LAFAYETTE, La.- Texas State (5-14, 2-7) earns 4-1 win at Louisiana (6-10, 2-7) for second conference road win of the season.
"Today was a great team win," said assistant coach
Kendall Brooks. "We battled on every single court and gave ourselves multiple opportunities to win, which is something we have failed to do all on the same day, but we knew we were capable of doing it. Proud of the team for sticking with it and getting this much needed conference win on the road."
Doubles
Texas State got back into their doubles groove when
Hana Kvapilova and
Kate Malazonia got the first win of the day, defeating Momoko Yoshimura and Catarina Zheng 6-3 on court one.
Sofia Fortuno and
Kylee Shannon clinched the doubles point for the Bobcats. The duo outlasted Louisiana's Angel Santiago and Lana Brezanin 7-5 on court three.
Singles
Hana Kvapilova got the first singles win of the day for the Bobcats, she bounced back to defeat Caterina Zheng 4-6, 6-0, 6-0. This was Kvapilova's 10
th singles win on court one this season.
Sofia Fortuno won 7-5, 1-6, 5-0 with Momoko Yoshimura retiring in the third set of their match.
Renata Gonzalez now has back-to-back wins on court six, she defeated AK Harvey 7-6, 6-4.
