SAN MARCOS, Texas – Down 8-1 after four innings, No. 9 Texas State (20-5, 5-1 Sun Belt) scored 12 straight runs to claim a 13-9 victory Sunday afternoon and claim the series over Coastal Carolina at Bobcat Ballpark.

Otto Wofford (2-0) allowed a hit and struck out three in his inning of relief to earn the win.
Tristan Stivors pitched the final three innings with two strikeouts to pick up his seventh save of the season. It was also the 16th save in his career to move into second in program history. Jacob Maton (1-1) suffered the loss as he surrendered three runs on three hits in an inning of work.

At the dish,
Dalton Shuffield went 2-for-4, scored four runs and hit his sixth home run of the season. Both
Justin Thompson and
Ben McClain finished with two base knocks and plated three and two runs, respectively. Also driving in three runs was
Peyton Lewis and
John Wuthrich.

The Chanticleers jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the first half inning and extended their advantage to seven runs with a five-run fourth. The lone run in that time for the Bobcats was Shuffield's homer.

With two on base and two out in the fifth, Thompson smashed a 0-1 offering over the batter's eye to cut the deficit to 8-4.

August Ramirez began the next inning with a single to center. After
Wesley Faison drew a walk,
Cameron Gibbons doubled down the right field line to plate a run.
Ben McClain followed with a two RBI single to left center on the first pitch after a pitching change to bring TXST to within one.

Following a single to center off the bat of Shuffield. The very next pitch saw Wuthrich smash it into the netting about the left field wall to put the Bobcats up 10-8.

A hit by pitch and back-to-back walks loaded the bases with no outs in the eighth. The Chanticleer's Elliot Carney got two straight strikeouts and had Lewis down 0-2. The junior catcher bashed the third pitch off the third pitch he saw off the right centerfield wall for a bases clearing double to increase the lead to five.

CCU was able to get a run back in the ninth on a solo home run from Dale Thomas. Stivors would induce back-to-back fly outs to wrap up the victory.

Next up for the Bobcats is a trip to Huntsville, Texas to take on Sam Houston. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
