Â
It took until the sixth for the Bobcats to get back on the scoreboard. Ramirez started the frame by striking out but reached base as the ball got away from the catcher. The sophomore moved into scoring position on a wild pitch and advanced to third on another wild pitch that was also the fourth ball to
Peyton Lewis to put runners on the corners. On the first pitch after a pitching change, Gibbons hit the ball back up the middle for an RBI single. The second run of the frame came when Wuthrich beat a throw to first on a potential inning-ending double play to put TXST back ahead 4-3.
Â
The seventh began with Shuffield drawing a free pass. He would later steal second and came around to score when Thompson laced a single to right field.
Â
OSU hit three consecutive singles that resulted in a run and cut the Bobcats' advantage to 5-4.
Â
Gibbons started the eighth with a double down the left field line. McClain laid down a bunt and the pitcher's throw to first was wide that allowed Gibbons to score for an insurance run.
Â
Stivors retired the Buckeyes in order that ended with a fly out to McClain in left to close out the game.
