Sun Belt Leading Bobcats Host Arkansas State for White Out Game

SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Sun Belt Conference leading Texas State men's basketball team (17-6, 8-3 Sun Belt) faces Arkansas State (15-8, 6-5 Sun Belt) Thursday at 7 p.m. inside Strahan Arena. The Bobcats enter riding a five-game winning streak.
 
It is also "Operation 6,582," an attempt to break the school's all-time single-game attendance record in the annual White Out game, where fans are encouraged to wear white shirts. More information on the promotion and tailgate can be found here.
 
The game will be streamed on ESPN+ with Brant Freeman and Suzanne Fox on the call. Fans can also catch the action on the Varsity Sports Network and KTSW 89.9 FM with Clint Shields.
 
LOOKING AT THE BOBCATS
Caleb Asberry come in lead the team at 13.6 ppg, 46 made three-pointers and 30 steals. Isiah Small paces the squad with 7.1 rpg and is second on the team at 11.3 ppg. He has scored 15 points in each of the last three games. Also putting up double-figures in points is Mason Harrell with 10.7 ppg. The Midwest City, Oklahoma native's 3.3 apg is the most on the Bobcats.
 
SCOUTING ARKANSAS STATE
The Red Wolves have lost three of their last four games after getting swept on the road this past weekend at South Alabama and Troy. ASU is 5-6 in road game with a 2-4 mark against conference opponents.
 
Norchad Omier is averaging a double-double of 17.1 ppg and 12.0 rpg. His 66.4 field goal percentage is the third best in the nation. Desi Sills enters putting up 13.0 ppg and has recorded a team-high 44 steals. Marquis Eaton is averaging 12.3 ppg and is sixth in the country with a 91.9 free throw percentage.
 
SERIES HISTORY
Texas State leads the all-time series 10-4. The Bobcats had won 10 straight meetings until falling on the road in the first matchup this season back on Jan. 22.  That game saw Small record a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds while Nighael Ceaser added 13 points off the bench.
 
When hosting the Red Wolves, TXST is 5-1 with the last win being on Feb. 15, 2020 by a 69-64 score. Nijal Pearson led all players with 27 points on 11-of-23 shooting, grabbed seven rebounds and recorded three steals.
