Softball to play 32 games at home as Woodard announces upcoming schedule

SAN MARCOS, TX — With Texas State softball's fall schedule now in the rearview mirror, head coach Ricci Woodard has released the Bobcats' spring slate of games that is highlighted by 32 of 56 games played inside Bobcat Softball Stadium.

"I'm really excited about this upcoming season's schedule," Woodard said. "I feel there's a good mixture of quality non-conference opponents that blends well with our conference opponents. Being able to have three of five non-conference tournaments at home means there'll be a lot of good softball for Bobcat fans to be able to watch here in San Marcos."

Texas State, which finished the 2022 season with a 38-19 record and a berth in the Sun Belt Conference Championship game, will begin its 2023 season by hosting a four-team tournament that features Wichita State, Kent State and Villanova beginning on Feb. 10. The following week, the Bobcats will host another multi-team tournament, in conjunction with UTSA, as South Dakota State, New Mexico State and Abilene Christian all visit San Marcos.

Beginning on Friday, Feb. 24, Texas State will host its third non-conference tournament in as many weeks when Kansas, Colorado State, UTA and UTSA all intertwine inside Bobcat Softball Stadium.

After spending the entire month of February at home, Woodard and her program will hit the road for the first time on the season as the Bobcat travel to Boca Raton, Fla., to participate in a five-team non-conference tournament hosted by FAU beginning on Thursday, March 2. The next week, Texas State makes the quick drive-up Interstate 35 for a four-team non-conference tournament hosted by the University of Texas, where Alabama and Wisconsin will join the two softball programs from the Lonestar State.

A doubleheader against Texas Tech in San Marcos on Tuesday, March 14 will proceed the beginning of Texas State's conference schedule as the Bobcat open Sun Belt action on the road at Troy on Friday, March 17.

Texas State's trip to Troy will be one of four road conference series for the Bobcats to go along with trips to App State (March 31 – April 2), Louisiana (April 14 – 16) and Marshall (April 28 – 30). On the flip side, Texas State will host South Alabama (March 24 – 26), Southern Miss (April 6 – 8), ULM (April 21 – 23) and James Madison (May 4 – 6).

Within the Bobcats' conference slate are road non-conference games at UTSA (March 22), Texas A&M (April 19) and Baylor (April 26). Texas State will also host Baylor (March 29), Sam Houston (April 11) and Texas (April 12) during the season.
