SAN MARCOS, TX — Following a record-breaking performance in Texas State's back-to-back three-set wins at Louisiana over the weekend, Emily DeWalt has been selected as the Sun Belt Conference's Setter of the Week, the league announced Tuesday morning. 

The recognition is DeWalt's 23rd career Sun Belt Setter of the Week honor and fifth this season and second consecutive. The five selections this season are tied for the second most by DeWalt in a single season — tying her junior season in 2020 — and is only behind her true freshman season in 2018, when her earned the award six times. She has earned the award at least three times in every season as a Bobcat: 2018 (6), 2019 (3), 2020 (5), 2021 (4) and 2022 (5).

"What a week for Emily: to become the (program's) all-time assist leader and to be named setter of the week for the fifth time in seven weeks, that's pretty legit," said Texas State volleyball head coach Sean Huiet. "I'm so proud of her and all the hard work she puts in on a daily basis to be the best set can be."

DeWalt, who passed Kristy Braun (1991-94) to become the program's leader in career assist during last Saturday's match, led the Sun Belt with a 13.50 assists per set average in two Bobcat victories against the Ragin' Cajuns'. She totaled 81 assists in just six sets played. Her weekend was highlighted by a 44-assist, 15-dig double-double — marking her 75th career double-double — in Texas State's three-set win on Saturday. 
 
On the weekend, DeWalt was also credited with 23 digs and a 3.83 digs per set average.
