SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State Volleyball fell to Colorado State in three sets on Saturday at the Strahan Arena in San Marcos, Texas.
The Bobcats (6-7 overall, 1-1 Pac-12) struggled offensively, posting just a .108 hitting percentage to the Rams' (9-3 overall, 2-0 Pac-12) .398. In addition, CSU posted 11 blocks to Texas State's two.
HOW IT HAPPENED
SET 1: 25-13
The Bobcats managed to tie the match a total of three times, but Colorado State's singular attacking error meant the Rams posted 12 kills on a .440 hitting clip. At the net, the Rams also posted over half of their total blocks with six. Sophomore
Peyton McKee posted a team-high four kills but her three attacking errors meant the second year was working with a .125 hitting percentage.
SET 2: 25-20
Texas State began to see improvement in the second set, going from a -.034 hitting percentage in the first to a .143 in the second thanks to five fewer attacking errors and 11 kills to the first frame's 10. The Bobcats also posted two service aces to the Rams' one thanks to junior
Anna Blaine and sophomore
Isabella Andrews.
SET 3: 25-21
The third set was the best start of any set on Saturday as the Rams jumped to a 3-0 lead, but Texas State answered right back with four straight points to take the lead, 4-3. The final set featured the most tied scores and lead changes at 12 and four, respectively. Fifth year

"Hats off to Colorado State, they're a very good team. We knew that. Just disappointed because I feel like this team is doing the same thing. We're riding this wave of being really good and then really bad and not being able to figure it out. To be able to even some things out and to play as good as we did Thursday night and play as bad as we did today, it's frustrating. But Colorado State is a good team. They were picked to win the conference for a reason. The positive is that we get to watch this and get better and figure out how we're going to beat them down the road. "
