SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas State men's basketball team (12-6, 3-3 Sun Belt) returns to Strahan Arena Saturday afternoon against UT Arlington (9-11, 5-4 Sun Belt) with tip scheduled for 4 p.m.
It is a Blackout game with fans highly encouraged to wear black to the contest. The annual Coaches vs. Cancer game is also taking place as well. A silent auction will take place in the lobby of the University Events Cents.
The game will be streamed on ESPN+ with
Brant Freeman and Suzanne Fox on the call. Fans can also catch the action on the Varsity Sports Network and KTSW 89.9 FM with
Clint Shields.
LOOKING AT THE BOBCATS
A slow start on Thursday saw the Bobcats eventually fall by 12 to the Mavericks despite getting to within two in the second half.
Shelby Adams netted a game-high 16 points while making a career-high seven field goals on the night.
Mason Harrell scored 14 points and dished out six assists, which increased his career total to 269 and now ranks 10 in team history. Also tallying double-digits was
Isiah Small with 10 points and grabbed a team-high eight rebounds.
SCOUTING UT ARLINGTON
UTA was led by 15-point from Patrick Mwamba. TXST held the Mavs leading scorer David Azore to just nine points with seven coming at the free throw line late in the game. Only other player to reach double-figures was Lazaro Rojas with 12 points off the bench. Javon Levi dished out six assists and recorded three steals on the night.
SERIES HISTORY
UTA leads the all-time series 41-36 after Thursday night's game. Texas State is 21-16 all-time when hosting the Mavs. Last season saw the Bobcats win 79-68 in Strahan Arena behind two 20-point performances. Small recorded his first career double-double with 21 points and 11 rebounds while
Caleb Asberry netted 20 points.
