Bobcats Drop Match to Trojans

TROY, Ala. – An early goal was all that was needed as Texas State fell to Troy 1-0 Sunday afternoon at the Troy Soccer Complex.

With the loss, the Bobcats are now 5-4-1 overall and 2-2-0 in the Sun Belt Conference while the Trojans are 4-5-1 and 1-2-0 in conference play.

The Trojans struck first midway through the 14th minute when a long ball down field allowed Ella Owen to beat a Bobcat defender to the ball and slot it past the goalkeeper.

All three of TXST's shot attempts in the first half were on goal but stopped by the Trojan keeper. The Bobcats were also stifled by the assistant ref as he called a very tight line that resulted in six offside calls against Texas State.

Mya Ulloa had TXST's best opportunity of the match in the 87th minute. Her tight angle shot got past the keeper but was cleared away at the last second by a defender.

The second half saw the Bobcats take five shots while being called offisides six times again with an extremely tight line.

Pacing Texas State with two shots apiece were Hannah Solano and Ulloa. In goal, Katelyn Chrisman made two saves in her third start of the season.

The Bobcats return home on Friday to take on Arkansas State at 7 p.m.
