Bobcats Drop Friday Night Match to Red Wolves

SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas State soccer team (5-5-1, 2-3-0 Sun Belt) tallied the first goal of the match but Arkansas State (6-3-1, 3-0-0 Sun Belt) scored three unanswered goals to take Friday night's match at the Bobcat Soccer Complex 3-1.

Four of the first shots were off target with three coming from the Red Wolves. In the later half of the 25th minute, May Ulloa took a crack at goal that clanked off the top right corner of the crossbar. The ball bounced to the left where Kiara Gonzales was to knock in her third goal of the season and give the Bobcats a 1-0 advantage.

The goal was Gonzales' team leading third of the season. It was also Ulloa's fourth assist, all of which have come in conference play and now leads the squad.

Nearly six minutes later, ASU's Abigail Miller headed in a corner kick to tie the contest.

In the 53rd minute, Trinity Clark unleashed a shot from the top of the 18-yard box. Her arching shot went just over the crossbar.

The Red Wolves netted their second goal early in the 55th minute off the foot of Emma Riales. In the 70th minute, ASU added a third goal from Aliyah Williamson.

Zoe Junior had an attempt on goal in the 87th minute that was caught by the goalkeeper.

Leading the team with four shot attempts was Gonzales. Both Junior and Ulloa took two shots apiece and Kamaria Williams attempted two shots.

Next up for the Bobcats is a meeting with Little Rock on Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Bobcat Soccer Complex. The match will be streamed on ESPN+.
