MOBILE, Ala. – The Texas State soccer team (5-3-1, 2-1-0 Sun Belt) dropped a 3-0 contest Friday night at South Alabama (5-3-1, 1-1-1 Sun Belt) at The Cage.
Â
Kiara Gonzales had an early look on goal in the second minute. Her low, hard shot would have beaten the goalkeeper but a defender was there to clear the ball away.
Â
The Jaguars took the lead halfway through the 23rd minute when Gracie Wilson sent a shot into the upper left corner from just beyond the penalty box.
Â
A through ball squeaked through the USA backline and saw
Mya Ulloa take a hard rip. The shot was knocked down and away by the keeper to keep the Bobcats off the scoreboard.
Â
Morgan Cross headed in a cross sent in by Sydney Ham in the 60th minute to extend USA's advantage to 2-0. The Jaguars' third goal of the match came 11 minutes later.
Â
TXST attempted seven shots with five of them coming from Ulloa. Four saves were made by
Beth Agee between the posts.
Â
Next up for the Bobcats is a match at Troy on Sunday. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. and streamed on ESPN+.
