CONWAY, S.C. – Texas State fell in the regular season finale to Coastal Carolina 12-2 in seven innings on Saturday afternoon at Springs Brooks Stadium.

The Bobcats head into the Sun Belt Conference Championship at 21-34 and 9-15 mark in conference play while the Chanticleers are now 26-23 and 9-12 in the Sun Belt.

Suffering the loss on the rubber was
Tony Robie (0-2) after he gave up five runs on five walks and four hits in 3.1 innings while striking out two. Hunter Sibley (1-0) picked up the win as he threw a scoreless inning of relief.

Tucker Redden paced the Bobcats at the plate with a 2-for-2 day and scored a run. Driving in a run each was
Chase Evans and
Will Hollis.

With two outs in the third,
John Wuthrich worked a free pass. A failed pickoff attempt that saw the ball get away from the first baseman allowed him to move into scoring position. Hollis followed by lacing a 3-1 pitch to right field for an RBI single and put the Bobcats on the scoreboard first.

The Chanticleers responded with a run in the bottom half of the inning to tie the game 1-1.

Cole Coffey led off the fourth with a single.
Cameron Gibbons was hit by a pitch and Evans followed with a single to load the bases. CCU got out of the jam with two strikeouts with the last coming on a very friendly call by the umpire that was outside the zone.

In the bottom of the fourth, the Chanticleers scored five runs to take the lead.

Redden started the sixth with a single and moved up a base on a wild pitch. Following a groundout that allowed the catcher to advance to third, Evans hit a deep fly to left center that allowed Redden to tag and score to cut the deficit to 6-2.

CCU responded by scoring four runs in the bottom of the inning to extend its advantage to eight runs. The game concluded an inning later when the Chanticleers plated two to reach the 10-run rule limit.

Next up for Texas State is the Sun Belt Conference Championship in Montgomery, Alabama at Riverwalk Stadium. The Bobcats enter the tournament as the No. 6 seed out of the West Division and will face off with Appalachian State on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
