SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State (16-23, 6-7 Sun Belt) scored all of its runs in the sixth and seventh innings to claim an 11-4 victory Friday night over Arkansas State (10-21, 5-8 Sun Belt) at Bobcat Ballpark. The win snapped a six-game losing streak for the Bobcats.

Zachary Leigh (3-5) picked up the win as the struck out nine while giving up three runs on five hits in six innings. Brandon Hudson (2-1) took the loss after giving up five runs on six hits and four walks in 5.1 innings of work.

Cade Bullinger threw a season-high two innings with two strikeouts.
Austin Smith recorded two outs on the rubber and
Matthew Nicholas struck out the lone batter he faced.

Pacing TXST at the plate was
Justin Thompson with a 2-for-3 night while also scoring twice. Others than scored two times was
Cole Coffey,
Will Hollis and
Dalton Shuffield.

Chase Evans extended his hitting streak to 10 games and drew a career-high three walks. Driving in four runs and hitting a home run was
Cole Coffey.

Making his return to the lineup after missing the last 35 games with an injury was
John Wuthrich. The junior outfield went 1-for-4, scored a run and drew a walk.

The Red Wolves struck first when on the second pitch of the game Drew Tipton hit a 1-0 offering over the left center field wall.

ASU loaded the bases in the fifth as the first three batters reached via two hit by pitches and a walk. Consecutive sacrifice flies increased the visitors' lead to 3-0.

Evans started off the sixth by smacking a 1-2 pitch into the netting above the left field fence to put the Bobcats on the board. It was his third home run of the season.

Two pitches later, Wuthrich hit a high popup into left center. The center fielder, second baseman and shortstop converged on the ball but the left fielder called them off at the last second. The ball landed in his glove but popped out to allow Wuthrich to reach on a two-base error. Following a single by Thompson, Hollis laced an RBI single to center to cut the deficit to a run.

A walk to Shuffield loaded the bases and Coffey was then walked on four pitches to tie the game. A balk was later called to put the Bobcats in front 4-3.

Texas State would go on to score three more runs in the sixth as
Tucker Redden was plunked,
Jose Gonzalez hit a sacrifice fly and the Red Wolf hurler threw a wild pitch.

After back-to-back walks to start the seventh, Shuffield hit a single through the left side to drive in a run. On the first pitch after a pitching change,
Cole Coffey crushed a three-run homer over the storage shed behind the right centerfield wall to give the Bobcats an 11-3 advantage.

The final run of the game came from ASU in the top of the ninth.
