SEATTLE – Texas State was able to get the tying run into scoring position in the ninth but was unable to bring him home as Washington took the series finale 2-1 Sunday afternoon at Husky Ballpark.

The Bobcats drop to 15-22 on the season while the Huskies are now 15-16.

Zeke Wood (2-3) took the loss as he gave up two runs on three hits while striking out four. Adam Bloebaum (1-3) picked up the win with a six-strikeout performance in 6.1 innings while surrendering a run on four hits and two walks. Davis Delorefice recorded two strikeouts in the ninth to earn his sixth save.

Tristan Stivors was the only other TXST hurler to see action. The junior struck out a career-high five batters and gave up just one hit.

The only Bobcats to record a hit on the day were
Bryce Bonner,
Chase Evans,
Tucker Redden and
Justin Thompson. Redden scored the team's lone run and Evans recorded an RBI. On the base paths, Bonner swiped two bases.

The Huskies got on the scoreboard first with a solo home run in the second by Cole Miller.

Leading off the fifth, Redden laced a single to right center. The very next pitch saw
Cade Manning lay down a sacrifice bunt. The throw was wide of the first base bag to put two runners in scoring position. Evans would place a perfect bunt down the first base line for an RBI single to tie the game.

An RBI single from Will Simpson put UW back in front 2-1 in the bottom of the sixth.

With two outs in the ninth, Redden was able to work a walk. Pinch runner
Isaiah Ortega-Jones would move up to second on a wild pitch. Manning nearly tied the game up on a shot down the right field line but the ball landed foul. A couple of pitches later, the third base umpire ruled that the freshman was did not check his swing on a low pitch despite barely swinging the bat.

The Bobcats are back home for four games this week beginning on Tuesday against top five ranked Texas on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
