SEATTLE – The last three batter in the lineup for Texas State (15-20) combined to go 7-for-12 but the Bobcats fell 10-5 to Washington (13-16) Friday night at Husky Ballpark.
 
Jaxon Williams, batting eighth, was 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI. 
Cole Coffey and 
Chase Evans, the seventh and ninth batters, respectively, both were 2-for-4 at the plate. Coffey scored twice and drove in a run while Evans had two RBI and score a run. Also recording a 2-for-4 day hitting was 
Dalton Shuffield.
 
Suffering the loss was 
Zachary Leigh (2-5) as he gave up six runs on 10 hits while striking out three in four innings. Logan Gerling (2-2) picked up the win as he went six innings with four strikeouts while surrendering two runs on seven hits.
 
Pitching an inning of relief apiece was 
Cade Bullinger, 
Jonathan Martinez, 
Rhett McCaffety and 
Otto Wofford. Both Martinez and McCaffety did not allow a run while on the mound.
 
The Huskies got on the board first as Christian Dicochea led off the game with a solo home run to right field. They would score another run in the frame on an RBI single to go up 2-0.
 
Washington's lead was doubled in the third when Christian Jones hit a 2-run homer to center field.
 
Coffey laced a single to right to beat the shift with an out in the fourth. Two batters later, Evans sent a 1-0 pitch over the left field for a two-run home run to cut the deficit to 4-2.
 
The bottom of the frame saw the Huskies load the bases. One run would be scored on a sacrifice fly to center and another run on a single to retake a four-run advantage.
 
UW increased its lead in the fifth to go up by seven on a three-run homer.
 
Shuffield began the eighth by drawing a walk and 
Peyton Lewis followed with a single to third on the shifted infield. Two batters later, Coffey smacked a 2-0 offering to left center for a double that brought home a run. Williams then hit a 2-RBI double to left on the very next pitch to cut the deficit to 9-5 as the Huskies made a call to the bullpen.
 
The series continues on Saturday with first pitch scheduled for 4 p.m. CDT.
