SAN MARCOS, Texas – A four-run second inning by Texas A&M (20-15) proved to be the difference as Texas State (15-19) fell to the Aggies 8-4 Tuesday night at Bobcat Ballpark.

Suffering the loss on the mound was
Trevis Sundgren (0-3) as he allowed four runs on three this and walks with a strikeout. Alex Magers (2-1) picked up the win with two scoreless innings of relief. Chandler Jozwiak earned his fourth save of the season as he struck out three.

Triston Dixon threw a season-high 3.2 innings with one strikeout.
Tony Robie also threw multiple innings of relief, going 2.2 with a team-high two strikeouts. Recording two outs apiece on the mound was
Cameron Bush and
Austin Smith.

Chase Evans went 2-for-4 at the plate to pace the Bobcats.
Peyton Lewis came off the bench to score two runs. Three walks were drawn by
Dalton Shuffield and
Justin Thompson was issued two free passes.

TAMU struck first with its four-run second. The damage could have been worse but
Isaiah Ortega-Jones threw a runner out at the plate and Dixon induced a double play to end the inning.

In the fourth, Thompson led off by being walked. He advanced all the way to third on a failed pickoff attempt. After Shuffield was issued a free pass,
Bryce Bonner laced a single to left to plate a run. Bonner and Shuffield pulled off a double steal and the junior shortstop would score when the Aggie pitcher was called for a balk to cut the deficit in half.

The next half inning saw the Aggies answer with two runs. It would also begin a trend of the visitors matching the Bobcats run for run in the next inning after TXST scored.

Shuffield plated a run as he drew a bases loaded walk in the seventh. The next inning saw Thompson be issued a free pass with the bases loaded for his team leading 30th RBI. Both frames would also end with the bases loaded for Texas State.

Next up for the Bobcats is a trip to the Pacific Northwest as they take on Washington in a three-game series that begins Friday at 7 p.m. CDT.
