Soccer Falls at Texas Friday Night

AUSTIN, Texas – The Texas State soccer team (4-11-1) fell 4-0 Friday night to Texas at Mike A. Myers Stadium.

The scoring began halfway through the fifth minute when Julia Grosso put a low shot into the net. The Longhorns would add two more goals before halftime.

Early in the second half, Madison Humphrey was able to drive past two defenders and placed a long shot on goal. It was the first shot for the Bobcats in the match.

UT added its fourth and final goal early in the 52nd minute via a penalty kick.

An attempted clearance by the Longhorns in their bonce went straight to Lindsey Salisbury. The sophomore got under the ball and it flew just over the crossbar.

The Longhorns almost added to their total with under 10 seconds to play from distance. The shot was caught by Beth Agee for the late save.

Agee ended the match with seven saves. She now has 82 stops on the season to surpass Natalie Gardini's 2013 total for the seventh most in a season by a Bobcat.

Next on tap for Texas State is TCU on Saturday, Mar. 13 at 7 p.m. in Fort Worth.
