Bobcats Fall at Little Rock

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The Texas State baseball team (8-12, 0-2 Sun Belt) fell Saturday afternoon 12-0 to Little Rock (8-7, 2-0 Sun Belt) at Gary Hogan Field.

Suffering the loss was Cameron Bush (1-2) as he gave up five runs on six hits in 4.1 innings. Hayden Arnold (2-2) picked up the win after throwing six scoreless innings with seven strikeouts and five hits allowed.

Hayden VanderRoest did not allow a run in an inning of relief and struck out two. Also seeing action out of the bullpen was Triston Dixon and Reece Gould.

Bryce Bonner and Jose Gonzalez paced the Bobcats at the plate as both went 2-for-4. Bonner hit two doubles and Wesley Faison hit a two-bagger as well.

After two scoreless frames, the Trojans scored three runs in the third. They would go on to score five more in the fifth, a run apiece in the sixth and seventh and capped it off with two runs in the eighth.

Best chance for the Bobcats to score came in the sixth. Gonzalez hit a single to right and Faison hit a pinch hit double to left center. However, the frame would end on a strikeout to end TXST's threat.

The series concludes on Sunday with the first pitch slated for 1 p.m.
