Texas State Announces Addition of a Football Game at BYU

SAN MARCOS, Texas- The Texas State Athletics Department announced Wednesday a change to its 2020 football schedule with the addition of a road game at BYU on October 24. The addition of the BYU contest will be one of 11 football games for the Bobcats in 2020

The Bobcats are in their second season under second-year head coach Jake Spavital, who will be calling the offensive plays in 2020. Spavital began his head coaching career in 2019 after serving as the offensive coordinator and quarterback coach at Texas A&M, Cal, and West Virginia.

The Cougars are in their fifth year under Kalani Sitake after finishing the 2019 season with a 7-6 record and playing in the SoFi Hawaii Bowl after recording upsets over Tennessee and USC.

The addition of the BYU game comes after New Mexico State and Ohio announced that they would not be playing football this fall due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.
